Kelly Clarkson Shares Her Decision to End Her Talk Show and Why It Wasn’t Easy
Kelly Clarkson has announced that she will be ending her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, after seven successful seasons, leaving fans in surprise.
While viewers will miss her celebrity interviews and the popular “Kellyoke” musical segment, Clarkson reassured her audience that she remains active in the entertainment industry.
“I’m really busy. We were talking at dinner last night. I was like, ‘I know everybody thinks oh, she’s quit.’ I still have other jobs!” Clarkson said during an appearance on the Today show. “So I’m still doing stuff. There’s just too much on the plate, so I was like, ‘You know what, it’s time to kind of pull back.’”
Currently, Clarkson serves as a judge on Season 29 of The Voice and is enjoying a successful residency in Las Vegas. She emphasized that the decision to step back from her talk show was immensely difficult, stating, “I work with a lot of people here, too — the crew’s been incredible. It wasn’t that the show wasn’t doing [well], that’s what kind of sucked. It was like, everything was going well, that’s what was really hard. And it’s like people’s jobs. We are a family there as well, so that was a really hard thing for me, but an easy decision as a momma. But it’s a big deal for our team.”

In a statement shared on social media, Clarkson expressed her need to prioritize her children, stating, “stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.”
This decision follows a challenging year for Clarkson, who took a leave of absence last spring to support her children during their father’s cancer treatment. He passed away last August.
Production of the current season will continue, with Clarkson hosting as planned. She will take some days off, during which guest hosts will step in. Season 7 episodes are set to air through Fall 2026.
