New Indie Horror Film ‘NightFlirt’ Set to Feature Rising Stars
In an exciting development for independent cinema, a new horror film titled NightFlirt is set to showcase a talented cast, including Keir Gilchrist (Atypical), Ethan Cutkosky (Shameless), Luca Padovan (You), Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), and newcomer Caden Martel. The film is written and directed by Case Avron, marking his feature debut.
NightFlirt unfolds across two timelines: 2009 and 2025. The story follows a chronically online college dropout and an underage OnlyFans streamer who are both targeted by a mysterious stalker. This film is part of a burgeoning movement that delves into the psychological impacts of growing up in an internet-driven world, following Avron’s short film By the Window, which explored similar themes through the lens of a high school boy’s online investigation of a kidnapping.
The film is produced by Matan Hamam and Bryn Kelly, alongside Harold Kahane, Michael Zapesotsky, and Julia Barlow. Mark Pellington, Avron’s longtime mentor, serves as the executive producer. NightFlirt will be the inaugural feature from Kilohertz, a New York City-based independent film studio dedicated to telling uncompromising contemporary narratives. With production scheduled to begin this winter, casting was handled by David Guglielmo and Emma Fleming.
Avron and Hamam, who first met during their freshman year at NYU, have collaborated on various short films. NightFlirt, which they developed during their senior year, marks their first foray into feature filmmaking. Both hail from California and share cultural references from early YouTube and Reddit. Avron has previous editing experience with notable names such as Pellington and Kali Uchis, while Hamam was an honorary graduate and the commencement speaker for his class at NYU Tisch.
The cast includes several well-known talents. Gilchrist, recognized for his leading role in Atypical and recent appearances in The Walking Dead: Dead City and By Design, is represented by CAA, Thruline Entertainment, Amanda Rosenthal Talent Agency, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols. Cutkosky, renowned for his role in Shameless, has appeared recently in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Happy Gilmore 2, and is represented by Gersh and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
Padovan, who gained attention from The Life List and You, has an upcoming role in Kent Jones’ Late Fame, which features Willem Dafoe and Greta Lee. Fisher, celebrated for her breakout role in Eighth Grade, has worked on recent projects, including Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point and the upcoming drama Tow, set for release on March 20. Martel, the newcomer of the group, is represented by Luber Roklin Entertainment.
With its unique themes and a compelling cast, NightFlirt is poised to capture the interest of horror enthusiasts and film aficionados alike.
