Kawhi Leonard Shines as Clippers Defeat Rockets
In a standout performance, Kawhi Leonard scored a season-high 41 points, leading the Los Angeles Clippers to a 128-108 victory over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. Teammate James Harden contributed significantly with 29 points, as the Clippers secured back-to-back wins for only the second time this season.
Leonard showcased his shooting prowess, making 16 of 23 attempts from the field and four of five from beyond the arc. This victory follows the Clippers’ recent 103-88 triumph over the Lakers, breaking a five-game losing streak. Previously, the team also achieved consecutive wins from October 24-26 against the Phoenix Suns and the Portland Trail Blazers.
Harden supported the team’s efforts with an effective shooting performance, hitting seven of 14 field goals and three of eight from three-point range, along with a strong free throw outing, making 12 of 13 attempts.
In addition to Leonard and Harden, John Collins and Kobe Sanders each added 13 points, while Kris Dunn contributed 11 points. The Clippers, now standing at 8-21 for the season, displayed impressive shooting, connecting on 54% of their three-point attempts (20 of 37).
For the Rockets, Kevin Durant led with 22 points on eight-of-15 shooting, while Alperen Sengun recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Houston, struggling from distance, managed only nine out of 30 attempts (30%) from three-point range.
Despite a sluggish start, the Clippers rallied from a six-point deficit after the first quarter. They outscored the Rockets 34-23 in the second quarter, taking a 63-58 lead into halftime. Leonard poured in 18 points during the first half, while Harden added 11, countering Houston’s Durant, who tallied 17 first-half points.
The Clippers maintained their advantage throughout the second half, leading 98-82 after three quarters, despite the Rockets’ efforts to close the gap. The win marks a critical moment in the Clippers’ season as they look to build momentum.
