Kawhi Leonard Leads Clippers to Their Fifth Straight Victory with 33 Points Against the Kings
Clippers Extend Winning Streak with Dominant Victory over Kings
In a commanding performance, the Los Angeles Clippers secured a 131-90 victory against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night, marking their season-best fifth consecutive win. Kawhi Leonard was the standout, contributing 33 points to the team’s impressive display.
James Harden added 21 points, while both John Collins and rookie Yanic Konan Niederhauser contributed 16 points each. The Clippers’ recent success is noteworthy, as they had previously struggled to secure more than two consecutive victories.
Leonard’s stellar evening follows a career-high 55-point performance against the Detroit Pistons just days earlier, and he has averaged an impressive 37.8 points over the last five games. The team’s winning streak began after center Ivica Zubac suffered a left ankle sprain and has been sidelined for the last four games.
The Kings struggled to keep pace, with Nique Clifford scoring 18 points, while Maxime Raynaud and Russell Westbrook each added 12 points. Despite Raynaud’s double-double, with 12 rebounds, Sacramento’s performance resulted in their fifth consecutive road loss and brought their record to 3-12 since November 26.
The Clippers established control early, leading 34-20 after the first quarter and expanding their lead to 36 points in the second, ultimately heading into halftime with a 70-43 advantage. During the second quarter, they shot an effective 57.1% from the field, with Leonard scoring 18 of the 39 points in that frame.
By the end of the third quarter, Leonard had already amassed 30 points as the Clippers held a commanding 100-71 lead, allowing them to coast to a comfortable victory.
Overall, the Clippers shot 51.1% from the field and recorded their largest margin of victory this season, while the Kings managed only 41%. Los Angeles committed just four turnovers compared to the Kings’ 19, converting those into 28 points.
The Clippers will look to continue their success against the Utah Jazz at Intuit Dome on Thursday.
