Katherine Heigl Returns to the Spotlight After Two Years at Florida Benefit Event
Katherine Heigl Makes Rare Public Appearance After Two Years
Katherine Heigl made headlines this past Sunday as she stepped out for her first public event in two years. The actress, known for her role in 27 Dresses, attended the Wine, Women & Shoes benefit for Big Dog Ranch House in Palm Beach, Florida, on March 8.
At the event, the 47-year-old star donned a vibrant knee-length dress adorned with a pastel floral pattern. She completed her look with a pale yellow Chanel handbag, and her hair was styled in an elegant updo. Accompanying her was her mother, Nancy Heigl, who wore a stylish beige ensemble. The duo brightened the atmosphere by posing with puppies for photographs.
This occasion marked Heigl’s return to the public eye since early 2024. She and her family, including husband Josh Kelley and their three children—Naleigh, 16, Adalaide, 13, and Joshua, 8—have embraced a quieter lifestyle since relocating to a ranch in Utah in 2010.
Reflecting on her life choices, Heigl remarked in April 2025, “Sometimes I ask myself if I should be in the game, if I should be hustling, if I should be more ambitious. And I just think I really don’t want to. If you don’t want that, then don’t do it, just because you think that’s what you’re supposed to do, or that’s what society expects from you.” Her candid thoughts resonate with many who share her feelings about societal pressures.
Having last appeared in Netflix’s Firefly Lane in 2023, Heigl has expressed contentment with her career trajectory. In an exclusive May 2025 interview, she stated that she believes she has already “reached the height of [her] career.”
As Heigl reflected on aging, she shared, "I wasn’t thinking about [aging] in my 20s… I was dying to be the romantic lead… you don’t think about the expiration date on it." She noted a shift in her perspective after turning 40, realizing that a generational change in Hollywood was underway, but she remains optimistic about the roles available to women in their 40s and beyond. “I feel like so many women in their 40s and 50s and 60s have compelling, interesting lives that we’d all be interested in seeing,” she added.
Heigl, who gained fame as Izzie Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy, continues to engage with the evolving landscape of the entertainment industry, advocating for more representation of women’s diverse experiences on screen.
