On December 4, McPhee shared an Instagram Reel that features a compilation of clips highlighting her ballet background. In the video, which includes moments of her dancing on stage, McPhee, 41, demonstrates her impressive en pointe skills as her husband, David Foster, plays piano.
The singer and actress is seen practicing her ballet routine in coordinating black and cream athleisure, with one clip showcasing her performing in a white leotard and floral tutu. In her post, she humorously noted, “night 1 of our christmas tour ✅ black swan…but festive 🩰🎄.”
In response to a comment questioning her ballet training, McPhee acknowledged her past, stating, “I’m not 😂😂 I just used to do it and fun to pretend during the holidays.”
Last month, McPhee Foster and Foster, 76, announced their 12-date Christmas tour, which commenced in Carmel, Indiana, on December 2. Christmas has always been a significant part of the couple’s relationship. In 2017, when their romance began, McPhee revealed that Foster hosted a Christmas party for her and her friends as a way to impress her.
In 2022, the duo released their first Christmas-themed album, Christmas Songs. Reflecting on the project, McPhee shared, “I think I guilted David. I said something like, ‘It’s really crazy I’m married to the greatest producer, basically of our lifetime, and I’ve only had you record me on a few songs.’ Then he said, ‘Okay, well, why don’t we just do a Christmas album?'”
The album evolved into a seven-track EP.

Initially intending to release just a few songs on Spotify, the couple’s plans quickly expanded to include a full-scale Christmas promotion and tour. Foster described the recording process with his wife as “easy,” explaining, “I got to make the tracks and do things the way I wanted to, then I’d have her come in and plug her vocal in. It was really fun.” He also noted, “There were a couple of songs we were talking about that we didn’t know whether she could handle or not, but she handled them like a pro.”
