Kat Cunning Joins NBC’s Upcoming Drama ‘Protection’
Kat Cunning, known for her role in On Swift Horses, has been cast in NBC’s new drama pilot Protection, created by Josh Safran, the writer and executive producer behind Quantico and Gossip Girl.
Protection centers on the aftermath of a U.S. Marshal’s death in the line of duty, turning a straightforward case into a harrowing conspiracy. A family of law enforcement agents finds themselves the target of a mysterious assassin. As they navigate personal conflicts and professional boundaries, the Thornhill family must utilize their extensive experience in protecting civilians and officials to safeguard one another and uncover the truth, even if it means compromising their principles.
Cunning will portray Clare Thornhill, a dedicated agent progressing toward becoming a profiler, and regarded as the most intelligent member of her family.
She joins an ensemble cast featuring Peter Krause as Mike Thornhill, Hope Davis as Joan— a tough U.S. Marshal with a commanding presence, and Tommy O’Brien as Micah Thornhill, a Secret Service agent known for his charm.
Cunning will also appear in the forthcoming MGM+ series American Hostage, alongside Jon Hamm, and has been featured in On Swift Horses with Jacob Elordi and Daisy Edgar-Jones, as well as Issa Rae’s Rap Sh!t. She is represented by Innovative Artists Entertainment and Untitled Entertainment.
