Karamo Brown Bids Farewell to Queer Eye
Karamo Brown and his castmates have officially bid farewell to Queer Eye, with heartfelt messages during the show’s final episodes, which premiered on January 21. Each member of the beloved Netflix series shared personal farewells, culminating a decade-long journey.
In a touching message featured during the credits of the season’s first episode, Brown urged viewers to embrace positivity, kindness, and love, emphasizing the importance of supporting one another. His absence from recent live interviews before the finale sparked discussion about his mental and emotional well-being, leading many to view his message through a poignant lens.
"My greatest joy over the past ten years has been Queer Eye," Brown stated. "It has given me so much. It has made every dream come true. I have met people who are gonna be my family for the rest of my life."
Each of Brown’s co-stars, including Antoni Porowski, Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, and Jeremiah Brent, also contributed parting thoughts, reflecting on their shared experience and the impact the show has had on viewers. Porowski, in his emotional farewell, remarked on the pervasive stories yet to be told, while acknowledging the significant emotional connection they have fostered throughout the series.
Brown, who chose to skip live promotional events leading up to the finale, has faced discussions about his mental health. An assistant stated that he has "felt mentally and emotionally abused for years" and was advised by his therapist to prioritize his well-being.
In a pre-recorded message, Brown alighted on a note of appreciation. “The crew worked on it and did an amazing job,” he said, expressing gratitude to the fans and executives involved. His colleagues echoed sentiments of support for his need to prioritize self-care, with Van Ness emphasizing the importance of taking care of oneself—a lesson echoed throughout their time on the show.
Queer Eye, which debuted its reboot in February 2018, concludes its journey as a landmark series that has connected with audiences on various levels. The end of the show marks not only Brown’s departure but the closing of a chapter that brought countless stories of transformation into the spotlight.
