Kaley Cuoco Teams Up with Ray Romano and Joshua Jackson in New HBO Max Drama Pilot “How to Survive Without Me”
Kaley Cuoco Returns to HBO Max in New Drama Pilot
Kaley Cuoco is set to star in the upcoming HBO Max drama pilot How To Survive Without Me, joining a cast that includes Ray Romano and Joshua Jackson. This project reunites Cuoco with producer Greg Berlanti, with whom she previously collaborated on The Flight Attendant, a series that became one of the platform’s first successful original offerings.
How To Survive Without Me, co-written by Berlanti and Bash Doran, alongside Robbie Rogers, tells the story of the De Angelis family grappling with life after the passing of matriarch Beverly. As the family members navigate their evolving lives without her, they must also honor her unique way of maintaining connection from beyond. The narrative explores themes of family bonds and the challenges of supporting one another.
Cuoco will portray Kate, the eldest daughter who inherits her mother’s perfectionism and grace. While managing her marriage, motherhood, and a career as an interior designer, Kate struggles with deeper emotional issues beneath her polished exterior. Jackson plays Cooper, one of her siblings, while Romano takes on the role of the family patriarch.
“Kaley Cuoco is an inspired choice for Kate,” said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Max Original Programming. “Her incredible range makes her a perfect fit for the role. The magic of her previous work with Greg Berlanti on The Flight Attendant makes us excited to see them reunite.”
Doran joins Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Rogers as executive producers, continuing their collaboration through Berlanti Productions and its overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.
Cuoco, who has a well-established history with Warner Bros. Television, has also been involved with successful projects such as The Big Bang Theory and the animated series Harley Quinn, both produced under her Yes, Norman banner. Harley Quinn originally aired on DC Universe before moving to HBO Max for its third season.
“Kaley has such a rich legacy at WBTV, and we’re excited to collaborate with her once again on How To Survive Without Me,” stated Clancy Collins White, President of Creative Affairs at Warner Bros. Television. “Her natural charm and remarkable talent will bring depth to her character, and we look forward to seeing her performance alongside Ray and Joshua in this compelling story.”
Following the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory in 2019, Cuoco has shifted her focus primarily to dramatic roles. In addition to The Flight Attendant, she starred in Peacock’s Based On a True Story and, most recently, in MGM+’s four-part thriller miniseries Vanished. Cuoco is represented by SDB Partners, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and John Meigs at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
