Justin Herbert Named One of Five Chargers Selected for the Pro Bowl
Five Chargers Selected for AFC Pro Bowl Roster
Five players from the Los Angeles Chargers were named to the AFC Pro Bowl squad on Tuesday, highlighting their standout performances this season. Among those honored are quarterback Justin Herbert and safety Derwin James Jr., who are regarded as key contributors to the team.
Herbert, in particular, marks his second Pro Bowl selection and joins rare company as the third player in NFL history to commence his career with six consecutive seasons featuring at least 3,000 passing yards and 20 touchdowns.
James, a veteran and five-time Pro Bowl selection, stands out as the only defensive back in the league this season to record at least 80 tackles — including five for loss — alongside multiple sacks and interceptions.
Cameron Dicker, recognized as the most accurate kicker in NFL history, also received his Pro Bowl nod. Dicker leads all AFC kickers with 36 made field goals and has tallied 141 points this season, earning him the team’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year honors.
Tuli Tuipulotu, a former standout at USC, has made an impressive impact this season as well, ranking third in the NFL with 13 sacks and achieving a career-high 20 tackles for loss.
One notable inclusion on the roster is Joe Alt, who transitioned from right to left tackle following an injury to Rashawn Slater early in the season. Alt performed admirably for the first three weeks but sustained an ankle injury in Week 4 against the New York Giants. He returned in Week 8 but faced another setback in Week 9, which required season-ending surgery. Despite the injuries, Alt’s performance secured him his first Pro Bowl honor.
Additionally, four other Chargers were named Pro Bowl alternates: outside linebacker Khalil Mack, linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips (for special teams), cornerback Donte Jackson, and fullback/defensive lineman Scott Matlock.
