Justin Bieber’s Grammy Performance: The Surprising Boxers Behind the Stage Look
Justin Bieber’s Bold Grammys Performance Draws Attention
During the 2026 Grammy Awards, Justin Bieber took the stage by surprise with a daring appearance, performing in little more than his boxers and socks. The choice of outfit became a topic of discussion, as revealed by the show’s executive producer, Ben Winston, on a recent episode of Rolling Stone’s "Music Now" podcast.
Winston shared insights about Bieber’s performance rehearsals, noting, "I don’t think he decided what the outfit would be until he walked on stage." He described Bieber’s approach as refreshingly spontaneous: "When we reached out to him about his creative direction, he was like, ‘I’m just going to get on stage and sing.’"
Rehearsals were brief, with Winston recalling that just seven minutes into an hour-and-a-half session, Bieber asked, “How’d it look to you? You happy with it?” After receiving positive feedback, the performer responded, “OK, fantastic. See you Sunday!”
Many artists typically rely on backup singers and dancers to complement their performances. In contrast, Winston emphasized that Bieber’s decision to perform solo marked a significant moment in his career, stating, “It was all him. It was a career-defining moment for him. It was so different from what we’ve seen over the years.”
Taking place on February 1 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Bieber performed his hit "Yukon" from his album Swag. Following the performance, host Trevor Noah described it as “captivating.”
Bieber was nominated for four awards at this year’s event: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Solo Performance for "Daisies," and Best R&B Performance for "Yukon." Although he did not win additional accolades, he already has two Grammy Awards from previous years—one for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Where Are Ü Now” with Jack Ü in 2016 and another for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “10,000 Hours” with Dan + Shay in 2021.
In contrast to his daring stage appearance, Bieber appeared polished in an all-black ensemble for press photos with his wife, Hailey Bieber. He donned a black shirt and an oversized double-breasted blazer, complemented by baggy trousers and stylish dress shoes. Accessorizing with a diamond chain and huggie earrings, Bieber presented a sharp contrast to his performance attire.
Hailey also made a statement, wearing a strapless Alaïa dress that showcased a fitted bodice and semi-sheer skirt. Her look was accentuated with a large diamond ring, a matching choker, and earrings. For makeup, she opted for dewy skin, defined cheekbones, and glossy lips, finishing her glam with a slicked-back updo that highlighted her elegant appearance.
The night not only showcased Bieber’s artistic risk-taking but also reaffirmed the continued evolution of his musical career.
