Julia Schlaepfer Joins HBO Max Pilot ‘How To Survive Without Me’
Julia Schlaepfer, known for her roles in 1923 and The Politician, has been cast in the upcoming HBO Max pilot How To Survive Without Me, alongside notable actors Ray Romano, Joshua Jackson, and Kaley Cuoco. This one-hour drama is developed by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran, with Warner Bros Television producing the project.
The series, written by Berlanti and Doran based on a story they co-created with Robbie Rogers, examines the dynamics of the De Angelis family following the death of matriarch Beverly. As the family struggles to navigate their complicated lives without her, Beverly’s presence continues to influence them from beyond the grave.
To honor Beverly’s legacy, the family must confront their challenges and prioritize their connections with each other.
In her role, Schlaepfer portrays Liz, a character described as a "gorgeous mess." Although she inherited her mother’s storytelling talent, Liz grapples with self-doubt and a chaotic lifestyle, leading her to make uncertain choices.
Romano will portray Leo, the newly widowed patriarch, who finds himself unexpectedly taking on the responsibilities of parenthood. Jackson plays Cooper, Liz’s brother, while Cuoco’s character, Kate, is portrayed as the eldest daughter who embodies her mother’s perfectionism and organizational skills.
Berlanti and Doran will serve as executive producers along with Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman. Robbie Rogers also joins as an executive producer through Berlanti Productions, in conjunction with Warner Bros Television. The pilot will be directed by Daniel Minahan.
Schlaepfer is represented by Gersh.
