Julia Roberts Dazzles in an ’80s-Inspired Polka Dot Suit at the 2025 Gotham Awards
Julia Roberts showcased a stunning throwback look to the 1980s at the 2025 Gotham Film Awards held in New York City on Monday night. The acclaimed actress donned a striking silk power suit in rich purple adorned with polka dots.
The outfit featured wide-leg trousers complemented by a double-breasted jacket. Although the neckline hinted at a matching silk camisole underneath, the sleeves of her jacket were elaborately trimmed with white shirting material, providing a nod to menswear aesthetics.
Accessorizing her outfit, Roberts paired the suit with black pointed-toe pumps and adorned her neck with a colorful layered strand of gemstones.
Her hair was styled in loose, beachy waves, parted in the center, flowing elegantly down her shoulders. The suit was created by Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford’s spring 2026 collection, originally unveiled on the runway with a high-neck collared silk blouse.
At the event, Roberts and director Luca Guadagnino received the Visionary Tribute Award for their collaborative film “After the Hunt,” which also features Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield.
Roberts’ ongoing affinity for power suits is well-documented. She notably wore a tailored gray Giorgio Armani suit when she accepted the Golden Globe for Best Actress for “Pretty Woman” in 1990. This tradition has continued through the decades as she regularly dons power suits on various red carpets worldwide.
Just last month, the 58-year-old actress revived her iconic Golden Globes look by sporting a gray suit during her appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Before that, she and fellow actress Amanda Seyfried, both styled by Elizabeth Stewart, were spotted in similar oversized menswear blazers at the Venice Film Festival on separate occasions.
