Visit Films Acquires Worldwide Rights to Millicent Hailes’ Perfect Ahead of SXSW Premiere
Ahead of its premiere at South by Southwest (SXSW), Visit Films has secured worldwide sales rights for Perfect, a new film directed by Millicent Hailes.
Debuting in the festival’s Visions section, Perfect explores the journey of Kai, who is living out of her car in a world ravaged by a contaminated water supply. After a painful breakup, she discovers a hidden lake where the water remains pure and a small group of outsiders has created a fragile utopia. It is here that she meets Mallory, a wealthy and enigmatic pregnant woman fleeing her past. Despite their stark differences, the two form a passionate romance. However, as their bond deepens, Kai begins to unveil the secrets of Mallory’s meticulously crafted life. A teaser for the film has been released.
The cast includes Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), Ashley Moore (I Know What You Did Last Summer), Micaela Wittman (Shirley), Lío Mehiel (After the Hunt), Ryder McLaughlin (North Hollywood), Kate Moennig (The ‘L’ Word), and Creed Bratton (The Office).
Produced by Tara Sheree (Jackrabbit), Nathan Scherrer (Jackrabbit), Tyler Payne (Toast), Douglas Riggs (A Mosquito in the Ear), and Liz Cardenas (A Ghost Story), Perfect showcases Hailes’ creative vision. Hailes, who studied fashion in London, holds a degree in photography and founded yves.2c, a magazine platform for women and underrepresented genders.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Visit Films on sales for Perfect,” Hailes remarked. “It means a great deal to be in such strong company, and we’re honored to join their slate, looking forward to bringing the film to audiences worldwide together.”
Visit Films President Ryan Kampe added, “Perfect is the perfect film for our times — a smart and provocative narrative that interweaves a potential apocalyptic future with the desires of the human body. We are very excited to collaborate with Millicent on such a visionary project.”
