Jordan Firstman’s ‘Club Kid’ Attracts Exciting Eight-Figure Offers at Cannes
Jordan Firstman’s critically acclaimed film Club Kid has generated significant buzz at the Cannes Film Festival over the past day.
Interest in the film has spiked, with multiple major studios expressing strong interest. Reports indicate that offers for the project have already reached the eight-figure range, which became apparent as discussions unfolded last night.
While many anticipate that Club Kid will end up being acquired by A24, competition remains fierce. One studio buyer remarked at a festival event that it is “the most commercial movie at the festival by far,” citing its appeal across various age groups. Another festival attendee predicted it as “an awards movie for sure.” Although some international buyers have exhibited hesitance, the film’s heartfelt narrative continues to attract interest.
The UTA Independent Film Group is currently facilitating the deal, while Charades manages international sales.
Club Kid tells the story of a washed-up party promoter who must transform his life after an unexpected visitor arrives. Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.
During the film’s seven-minute ovation at Cannes, lead actress Cara Delevingne became emotional. Firstman, who both wrote and stars in the film, lifted co-star Reggie Absolom—who portrays his character’s son—and led a chant in his honor, mirroring their earlier playful antics at the film’s photocall.
In addition to Club Kid, several other projects are attracting competitive offers, and more clarity in the market is expected within the next 48 hours.
