Jon Stewart Discusses Trump’s R-Slur Comment About Tim Walz: A Thanksgiving Perspective
As Americans settle back into their routines following Thanksgiving, Jon Stewart made a notable return to The Daily Show to critique Donald Trump’s controversial holiday message.
In his Thanksgiving post, Trump directed an offensive remark at Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, labeling him “seriously re****ed.” Stewart condemned the president’s use of ableist language, highlighting Trump’s subsequent refusal to retract his comments.
<p class="paragraph larva // lrv-u-margin-lr-auto “>“On Thanksgiving?! Are you confusing that with Festivus?” Stewart remarked. He further emphasized, “‘Seriously reed?’ Not even ‘playfully reed’ like Mr. Bean, you know what I mean? Or ‘celebratorily re****ed’ like the Black Eyed Peas song? They’re very lucky that ‘started’ rhymes with it.”

Continuing his critique, Stewart noted, “The press corps had to spend the whole holiday weekend down at Mar-a-Lago, listening to this brain ooze. They couldn’t even go back home by themselves; they had to fly back with this nut and ask him if he wants to clarify any of the nonsense.”
Stewart further lamented, “What is happening?! When Ken Burns does the documentary on this era…” mimicking the iconic filmmaker.
What began as a “very happy Thanksgiving salutation” turned into a inflammatory message from Trump, who later reiterated that “there’s something wrong with Walz,” whose son has a non-verbal learning disorder.
In response, Walz stated on Meet the Press, “This is what Donald Trump has done. He has normalized this type of hateful behavior and this type of language. At first, I think it’s just because he’s not a good human being. But secondly, to distract from his incompetency.”
Walz added, “Many times, it’s just about being decent to people and making them feel included. You can use that word. Sure, you can use that language. But you shouldn’t. And that’s something Donald Trump fails to realize.”
