John Higgins Joins Cast of Apple TV’s Golf Comedy Series Stick
Actor and writer John Higgins, known for his work on Saturday Night Live, has been cast in a recurring role for the second season of Apple TV’s golf comedy series Stick, which features Owen Wilson in both a starring and executive producing role.
Created by Jason Keller, Stick offers a heartfelt look at the connections within a found family, set against a unique backdrop of the golf world.
Higgins joins a talented ensemble that includes Wilson, Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Timothy Olyphant, and Judy Greer. Billy Zane has also been announced as a guest star for the upcoming season.
In its first season, Wilson portrayed Pryce Cahill, a once-promising pro golfer whose career was cut short two decades earlier. Following a personal crisis that led to the collapse of his marriage, Cahill finds himself working at a sporting goods store in Indiana. He invests his hopes in a troubled 17-year-old golf prodigy named Santi, played by Dager.
Produced by Apple Studios, Stick is overseen by Keller, who serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Wilson, Ben Silverman of Propagate Content, and Guymon Casady from Entertainment 360. Additional executive producers include Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Drew Buckley, Lee Eisenberg, Christopher Moynihan, Bill Callahan, and Jaffar Mahmood.
Higgins recently completed work on the Netflix film Bad Day, directed by Jake Szymanski and featuring Cameron Diaz. He is recognized for his contributions to Saturday Night Live as part of the New York-based comedy group Please Don’t Destroy. Higgins also co-wrote and executive produced Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure Of Foggy Mountain, a feature film released in 2023 and directed by Paul Briganti, with Judd Apatow as a producer. He is represented by WME, Mosaic, and Ziffren Brittenham.
