Jessica Simpson Celebrates Thanksgiving with Estranged Husband Eric Johnson
Jessica Simpson and her estranged husband, Eric Johnson, presented a united front during their Thanksgiving celebration this year, marking a significant moment for the family amid ongoing changes in their personal lives.
Simpson, a multifaceted talent as a singer, actress, and businesswoman, confirmed to TMZ that she indeed spent the Thanksgiving holiday with Johnson. The gathering took place at her mother Tina’s house, where the couple was joined by their children and extended family. "It’s my kids’ father," Simpson stated. "And all their grandparents [were there], they have a lot of ‘em. Family first."
The 45-year-old Simpson and 46-year-old Johnson are parents to three children: 13-year-old Maxwell Drew, 6-year-old Birdie Mae, and 12-year-old Ace Knute. Their separation, announced in January, follows nearly a decade of marriage.
When asked for advice to those navigating similar circumstances during the holiday season, Simpson emphasized the importance of “unconditional love.” “No matter what, your kid is half the other person, and [you should] always have respect in what you say around them so they can always have a good perspective on it,” she added.
This Thanksgiving, Simpson’s mother, Tina, handled the majority of the cooking, allowing Simpson and her sister, Ashlee, to relax and enjoy watching the Dallas Cowboys play.
In addition to her family activities, Simpson is also gearing up for a performance at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut on December 7. Earlier this year, she released parts one and two of her Nashville Canyon EP and shared that her children recently attended a football game where Johnson had played during his college years at Yale. "They had fun doing that. It’s where their dad played," she noted.
Reflecting on her recent life changes, Simpson acknowledged the unpredictability of life. "I feel like we get caught up in numbers," she said. "Like, ‘Oh, at 45, would I think that I would be single again as a mom of three?’ Absolutely not. That was not how I planned it. But it’s just a part of what destiny holds for me."
Elaborating on her experiences since the split, Simpson humorously remarked on her burgeoning interest in dating. “I think I’m into younger men at the moment," she shared during a recent premiere of All’s Fair. "When you’re newly separated… I feel like younger guys kinda like the confidence of an older woman, I’m discovering. I am having fun!"
This Thanksgiving, despite the changes and challenges, family remains at the forefront of Simpson’s life.
