Jennifer Runyon, Star of ‘Ghostbusters,’ Passes Away at 65
Actor Jennifer Runyon, known for her role in the iconic 1984 film ‘Ghostbusters’ and the popular sitcom ‘Charles in Charge,’ has died at the age of 65, as confirmed by her family. Runyon passed away on Friday, though details regarding the cause of death have not been disclosed.
In a heartfelt statement, her family shared, "This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away. It was a long and arduous journey that ended with her surrounded by her family. She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends. I know from above she’s looking down on all of us with her beautiful smile. Rest in peace, our Jenn."
Runyon was born in Chicago and made her film debut in 1980 with the holiday horror feature "To All a Goodnight." Her most memorable scene in ‘Ghostbusters’ involved playing a student tested by Dr. Peter Venkman, portrayed by Bill Murray.
In the sitcom ‘Charles in Charge,’ Runyon portrayed Gwendolyn Pierce, a character who captured the affection of lead character Charles, played by Scott Baio. Throughout the 1980s, she also appeared as Cindy Brady in "A Very Brady Christmas" and had a recurring role on the soap opera "Another World" from 1981 to 1983. Additionally, she made guest appearances on shows such as "Quantum Leap" and "Murder, She Wrote."
Runyon married college basketball coach Todd Corman in 1991, and the couple had two children together. In a 2024 podcast interview, she spoke about her commitment to working with at-risk high school youth.
Her daughter, Bayley Corman, shared a poignant tribute on Instagram, including photos of her mother. "All of the best parts of me came from you. I would give anything for one more day together," she wrote.
