Jennifer Lawrence provided insight into her film career and her relationship with fellow actress Emma Stone during a conversation with Josh Horowitz at 92NY in New York City. The event took place on January 7, shortly after the announcement of the SAG-AFTRA Actor Award nominations.
During the discussion, Lawrence noted that while Stone received a nomination for her role in Bugonia, she herself did not make the cut. “She got nominated for SAG today and I did not,” Lawrence, 35, said, adding that their group chat erupted with congratulations for Stone while she responded with a sarcastic sad face emoji.
Reflecting on their long-standing friendship, she remarked, “And all of our friends were like, ‘Congratulations, Emma.’ And then I would just do, like, a sad face.”
While Stone secured a nomination for her performance, Lawrence earned recognition from various other awards, including the Golden Globes and Gotham Awards, for her work in Die My Love. Despite her accolades, she was notably absent from the Actor Awards nominations this year.

As humorous banter continued, Lawrence jokingly remarked on their interactions, saying, “And then every time she’s tried to, like, talk today, I’ve just been like … ‘If you can talk, why are you not so sorry?’” She emphasized the respect she holds for Stone, acknowledging her consistent success over the years.
The two actresses have long been friends, often supporting each other through their respective careers. Lawrence shared anecdotes about their history, including times spent together at various industry events. She notably presented Stone with an award during the ceremony when Stone won her second Oscar in 2024 for Poor Things.

In a light-hearted moment, Lawrence reminisced about a role she had aspired to land. “The one that I wanted that she got was Easy A,” she laughed. “I was nuts for Easy A — and really should have gotten it, right? … It would have been great.”
Looking ahead, both actresses are reportedly collaborating with Cole Escola on a new Miss Piggy movie featuring the beloved Muppet character. Lawrence humorously suggested that directors like Martin Scorsese or Paul Thomas Anderson were attached to the project, adding a playful twist that it’s *not* R-rated, but rather a family film aimed at “gays and women.”
Additionally, Lawrence is set to star in and produce a murder mystery titled The Wives, inspired by the Real Housewives reality franchise.
