Jennifer Garner Shares Insights on the Season 2 Finale of ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ and Hopes for Season 3: “Just When Hannah Starts to Relax…”
SPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers for The Last Thing He Told Me‘s Season 2 finale.
The second season finale of The Last Thing He Told Me leaves viewers with unresolved plotlines, as noted by Judy Greer’s character, Quinn Campano. The series, produced by Hello Sunshine and Apple TV, is based on Laura Dave’s novel and its sequel, The First Time I Saw Him.
In the closing episode, Quinn officially takes control of her father Frank’s (John Noble) dubious criminal enterprise. The scene unfolds with her discovering a cigar left at Frank’s desk, followed by a phone call to the enigmatic “Cleaners,” revealed to be Maris (Michael Hyatt) from the U.S. Marshall’s office. Maris, who serves as an informant for the Campano family, receives a hint from Quinn that their involvement with Hannah Hall (Jennifer Garner), Owen Michaels (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), and Bailey (Angourie Rice) may not be concluded. Olivia Rodrigo’s track “obsessed” punctuates the moment.
The structure of the finale reflects a pattern seen in the first season’s conclusion, which set the stage for subsequent developments. With a new sequel novel by Laura Dave, the possibility of a third season remains viable. Nearly three years after the premiere of Season 1, the second season has successfully expanded upon the storyline initially introduced in the novel, which was adapted for television by her husband, Josh Singer.
