Jayme Lawson Shares Excitement for Sinners Group Chat’s Grammy Nominations and Award Buzz

At the premiere of The Running Man on November 9, Jayme Lawson, who plays a character in the recently released film Sinners, discussed the ongoing excitement among the cast, now months after the film’s debut. The film, directed by Ryan Coogler, has created considerable buzz, especially following its recent Grammy nominations.
“We talk constantly,” Lawson stated. “The group chats are on fire. It was a lot of [screaming], you know, back and forth with each other [after the Grammy nominations were announced].” She expressed fondness for her co-stars and excitement over their continued connection. “I love my [Sinners] family, and it’s exciting that I get to see them and hang out with them,” she added.

The film has garnered five nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards, and its cast is hopeful for additional accolades, including potential Academy Award nods. Discussing the film’s rising profile, Lawson remarked, “We were hoping that that would be the case when we were filming, that this wouldn’t just stop in New Orleans. And the fact that [the hype] keeps continuing and potentially continues into next year, it’s just an exciting, exciting, rewarding feeling.”

Though the cast remains tight-knit, Lawson acknowledged the challenges of busy schedules that can make it difficult to stay updated about each other’s lives. “People got children, people got jobs, people got things to do, okay,” she noted, emphasizing their commitment to supporting one another through voice notes and text messages.
Lawson, who plays the character Pearline in the film, shared celebratory photos with her co-stars on social media over the Easter weekend. “It was/is/and always will be A FAMILY AFFAIR ❤️🥰! Happy Easter/Resurrection Sunday everyone,” she captioned her post.

Steinfeld also expressed enthusiasm for her role in Sinners, calling it one she had been anticipating. She commented on the complexity and depth of the story crafted by Coogler, stating, “I read his script and was like, ‘Holy s—, this feels like a massive undertaking.’ The story is so complex and layered, and I was so fortunate and honored to even be remotely considered.”
