Jaylen Brown’s Video Highlights Concerns About Police Treatment of Black Residents in Beverly Hills
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has declined an apology from Beverly Hills officials following the disruption of his private All-Star Weekend event by police. He cited significant financial and reputational damage resulting from the incident.
This occurrence has once again drawn attention to the Beverly Hills Police Department’s treatment of Black residents, in light of a pending $500-million class-action lawsuit that accuses the department of systemic racial profiling.
Beverly Hills has a long-standing history of racial tensions, marked by past issues including restrictive covenants and a notable “driving while Black” lawsuit filed in 1995.
