Jason Robertson and the Stars Shine Bright in High-Scoring Game Against the Ducks
Dallas Stars Defeat Ducks 8-3 in Impressive Road Performance
In a dominant display on Friday night, the Dallas Stars secured an 8-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks, marking their third consecutive win. Jason Robertson led the charge with two goals and an assist, contributing significantly to the Stars’ impressive performance.
Alongside Robertson, Roope Hintz and Thomas Harley each recorded a goal and an assist, while Oskar Bäck, Sam Steel, Ilya Lybushkin, and Adam Erne also found the net for the Stars. This victory continues the Stars’ remarkable road record, now standing at 13-2-4, the best in the NHL. Mikko Rantanen and Miro Heiskanen added two assists each, while goaltender Casey DeSmith made 23 saves.
For the Ducks, Ryan Poehling, Beckett Sennecke, and Mikael Granlund tallied goals, but the team has struggled lately, losing four of their last five games. Starting goalie Lukas Dostal was pulled after conceding four goals on just seven shots in the first period, with Petr Mrazek stepping in to stop 14 of the 18 shots he faced going forward.
The Stars’ eight-goal effort tied their season high, previously achieved during an 8-3 win against Edmonton on November 25, and represented the most goals the Ducks have allowed this season.
Bäck opened the scoring for the Stars with a shorthanded goal just 2:37 into the game, capitalizing on a turnover by the Ducks behind their net. Poehling quickly equalized, scoring off a rebound from a point shot by Radko Gudas just 55 seconds later.
Hintz restored the lead for Dallas at 4:42 in the first period, receiving a pass from Robertson and firing a shot into the net. Steel extended the lead to 3-1 with a goal confirmed after a review, and Harley added to the advantage shortly thereafter with a shot from the right circle assisted by Rantanen.
In the second period, Robertson scored on a power play at 8:50, and then netted his second with a backhander four minutes later, bringing his season total to a team-leading 22 goals. Erne capped off the second period, making the score 6-1.
The Ducks attempted a comeback as Sennecke narrowed the deficit to 8-3 at the start of the third, but Lybushkin responded quickly to extend Dallas’ lead again. Granlund closed out the scoring with 5:38 left in the game.
As the Stars continue their strong performance, they look to build on this momentum in the games ahead, while the Ducks will aim to regroup from this setback.
