Angela Lansbury portrayed the iconic Jessica Fletcher from 1984 to 1996 in what became one of television’s longest-running and most successful shows. Fletcher, a retired schoolteacher turned mystery writer, possessed an uncanny ability for solving real-life murders. The series primarily took place in the fictional seaside town of Cabot Cove, Maine, although Jessica often traveled for her cases.
Produced by Universal Television, the show became a Sunday night fixture, receiving 41 Emmy nominations throughout its run, with Lansbury nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series each year. Despite her consistent nominations, she never secured a win. Lansbury later reprised her role in four television films.
Next for Jason Moore, known for his work on comedies like Pitch Perfect and Sisters, is directing the pilot and serving as an executive producer on Elle, a prequel series to Legally Blonde for Prime Video. Additionally, he will direct a revival of the Tony-winning musical Avenue Q in London’s West End. Moore is also working on two book adaptations: Guncle, based on Steven Rowley’s bestseller, and Emma Straub’s novel This Time Tomorrow.
Angelo and Schuker Blum previously collaborated on the screenplay for Dumb Money, which depicted the January 2021 GameStop short squeeze and featured a star-studded cast, including Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Pete Davidson, America Ferrera, and Nick Offerman. Their future projects include Rise, which tells the story of the groundbreaking U.S. women’s national basketball team that led to the establishment of the WNBA.
Moore is represented by WME and Hansen Jacobson Teller.
