Jason Momoa Shares Exciting News About the Minecraft Sequel Coming Soon
Jason Momoa Set to Return for Sequel to Minecraft Movie
Jason Momoa is preparing to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel to the Minecraft movie, marking his return to the Overworld. The actor, who played the champion gamer Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison in the first installment, recently announced that production for the sequel is set to begin soon.
“Very soon. Dude. Bro, end of April. They’re in it,” Momoa shared during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He expressed enthusiasm about the new script, stating, “It’s even better. It’s so good, I was laughing out loud. I haven’t laughed out loud in a very long time at a script. I was perplexed on the first script; this one I’m laughing out loud.”
In addition to Momoa’s excitement, director Hess shared his perspective on the project, noting the expansive universe of Minecraft that remains largely untapped. “We had so much fun making this movie, and it’s such an expansive world in the game, and there were so many things that we didn’t tap into that we wanted to,” Hess explained. He conveyed his anticipation for returning to this universe, emphasizing fan engagement, particularly with the tease at the end of the first movie. “The fans seem to be going wild for it.”
Hess also hinted at the introduction of “the other massively critical character” from the game, confirming that both Steve, voiced by Jack Black, and Alex will feature prominently in the sequel. “That’s the one that we will be bringing to the table without a doubt,” he added, reinforcing excitement about continuing the story.
As fans await more details on the sequel, both Momoa and Hess’s remarks highlight the growing anticipation surrounding this adaptation of the beloved gaming franchise.
