Celebrity Makeup Artist Jasen Kaplan Passes Away at 46
Jasen Kaplan, best known for his appearance on the reality show Finding Prince Charming, has died at the age of 46. Kaplan passed away shortly before midnight on Wednesday at a New York City hospital, while the New York City Police Department continues to investigate circumstances surrounding the incident at his apartment building. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Kaplan, a prominent makeup artist in the entertainment industry, collaborated with notable figures such as Eva Longoria, Cyndi Lauper, Lynda Carter, Kelly Osbourne, and Bethenny Frankel, showcasing his talent on various high-profile projects.
In a heartfelt tribute, Bethenny Frankel described Kaplan as "magnetic, generous, [and] endlessly supportive." She noted, "Jasen Kaplan had a positive energy that was truly infectious… The world lost a one-of-a-kind gem on New Year’s Eve, which still doesn’t feel real," in a post shared on Instagram.
Kelly Osbourne also honored Kaplan, whom she referred to as “the best wingman a girl could ask for” after 25 years of friendship. "I’m devastated. I love you so much @jasenkaplan. Thank you for all the love, laughter and joy you brought into my life. I hope you are at peace now. Life will never be the same without you! RIP my dear friend!" she wrote on her Instagram Story.
In 2016, Kaplan gained wider recognition when he participated in Logo’s Finding Prince Charming, a reality series where 13 gay men competed for the affection of interior designer Robert Sepúlveda Jr. Kaplan was eliminated in the second week of the competition.
His passing comes shortly after that of fellow contestant Chad Spodick, who died at the age of 42 in early December. Kaplan’s death marks a significant loss for friends, colleagues, and the larger community who admired his work and vibrant personality.
