Jana Kramer Makes Directorial Debut with ‘Love Song for My Texas Ranger’
Actress and country singer Jana Kramer, known for her roles in One Tree Hill and Gaslit by My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story, is poised to make her directorial debut with Love Song for My Texas Ranger, an independent romantic drama currently filming in Texas. In addition to directing, Kramer will star in the film.
She is joined by a talented cast including Ryan Rottman from 90210, Tammin Sursok of Pretty Little Liars, and Daphne Zuniga of Melrose Place. The film will feature original songs performed by Kramer herself.
The film’s synopsis provides insight into its narrative: “A struggling singer (Kramer) returns to her Texas hometown to settle her late mother’s estate, where she reconnects with a steadfast Texas Ranger (Rottman) and must choose between the life she planned and the love she never expected.”
The screenplay is authored by Robin Conly and Jen Parker, with Conly also taking on producing duties. Christie Will serves as executive producer.
Reflecting on her dual role, Kramer remarked, “Music is such a huge part of who I am, so being able to perform original songs in the film while also having the opportunity to direct has been a really special experience.”
Christie Will emphasized the importance of fostering women’s contributions in filmmaking, stating, “Opportunities for women to step into the director’s chair still don’t come easily, which makes it all the more important to champion our colleagues when those opportunities arise. Jana is bringing a lived, authentic voice to this project—one that deserves to be heard.”
Jana Kramer is represented by the William Morris Agency and Luber Rocklin, while Zuniga is represented by Untitled Entertainment and CESD Talent Agency. Rottman is represented by Cultured Artists, and Sursok is represented by Defining Artists and attorney Erik Hyman at Paul Hastings. Will is represented by Play Management.
