James L. Brooks Believes Jack Nicholson Will Make a Comeback in Acting
After a 15-year hiatus from acting, Jack Nicholson may be poised for a return to the big screen, according to his frequent collaborator, James L. Brooks.
Brooks, known for co-writing and directing the acclaimed film As Good As It Gets, hinted that the three-time Oscar winner is preparing for an on-screen comeback. This speculation follows Nicholson’s appearance in the audience during the SNL50: The Anniversary Special earlier this year.
“Oh, I don’t think he stopped,” Brooks told People. “I mean, he’s gotten scripts, he’s reading them, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing them.”

Nicholson’s last film role was in Brooks’ 2010 romantic comedy, How Do You Know, which featured a notable cast including Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, and Owen Wilson.
The duo has previously collaborated on several successful films, including Terms of Endearment (1983), Broadcast News (1987), and As Good As It Gets (1997), earning Nicholson two Oscars and Brooks three.
In the meantime, Brooks is making his directorial return with Ella McCay, which is currently playing in theaters. This marks his first film since How Do You Know.
