James Bond Movies Now Available to Stream on Netflix Thanks to Exciting Amazon Partnership
In a surprising turn of events, a range of Amazon-owned films and series, including iconic titles from the James Bond franchise, will be available for streaming on Netflix. This new deal marks a noteworthy partnership between the competing streaming services.
Beginning January 15, Netflix will introduce films such as Die Another Day, No Time to Die, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall. Additionally, viewers can look forward to classic films like Rocky, Creed, and Legally Blonde, as well as the original series The Man in the High Castle.
The deal follows the recent availability of Hunters, a conspiracy drama series created by David Weil, which started streaming on Netflix this month after running for two seasons on Prime Video.
Die Another Day, No Time to Die, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall will be accessible on Netflix in the U.S., Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Benelux, Italy, the Nordics, and Latin America for a period of three months. Meanwhile, Hunters will be available for a year across the same regions.
This collaboration is indicative of a shifting landscape in the streaming market. Amazon appears to recognize the revenue potential from licensing these titles, suggesting a strategy focused on collaboration, even with rivals. This move mirrors a similar approach by Warner Bros. Discovery, which has engaged in licensing HBO shows to Netflix earlier this year.
Chris Ottinger, Head of Worldwide Distribution for Amazon MGM Studios, commented on the deal, stating, “When Amazon acquired MGM, Amazon’s plan was to continue licensing MGM’s iconic library to streaming and television partners around the world. Bringing these iconic films and shows to Netflix is part of that continued strategy. James Bond remains one of the most enduring and influential franchises in cinematic history, and alongside other beloved titles in our library like Hunters, this agreement reflects the continued global appetite for premium storytelling and the strong working relationship we’ve built with Netflix.”
For context, Prime Video typically streams James Bond films for two months each year, from October’s Global Bond Day through Thanksgiving. During this window, MGM+ also airs the popular titles, featuring an “all-Bond” event from October through December, complemented by a year-round selection of films.
