Jake Borelli Takes the Helm as Director on Grey’s Anatomy
Jake Borelli Returns to Grey’s Anatomy as Director
Jake Borelli is set to make his directorial debut with an upcoming episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. Scheduled to air on April 2, the episode titled “Feel it Still” will not feature Borelli in an acting role.
Borelli portrayed Dr. Levi Schmitt for more than seven seasons, beginning as a recurring character in Season 14 and later becoming a series regular from Seasons 16 to 20. His last appearances were in the initial episodes of Season 21.
“I’ve been shadowing Debbie Allen, our executive producer and director, for several years… so I still very much feel part of the world,” Borelli expressed. “I would love to hop back on camera, but maybe it’ll also be behind the scenes.”
Having made his directorial debut with the short film Igins last June, Borelli has spent over three years learning from Allen, who also plays Catherine Fox on the series.
Since departing the role of Levi, Borelli has made a return to Grey’s Anatomy once, appearing at the wedding of his character’s friend Jo (Camilla Luddington) to Link (Chris Carmack) in the penultimate episode of the previous season. He has not yet visited Jo following the birth of her twins.
In “Feel it Still,” Borelli will oversee a significant moment for Jo as she returns for her first full day back at Grey Sloan after a leave of absence. Additionally, the episode will explore Owen treating a personal case and Bailey navigating hospital leadership.
Borelli is represented by CESD, Amplified, and attorney Douglas R. Stone.
