Jack Black Is Back Hosting SNL Again, This Time with Special Guest Jack White
Jack Black to Host SNL with Jack White as Musical Guest
Jack Black is set to return as host of Saturday Night Live on April 4, with rock musician Jack White slated to perform as the musical guest. This collaboration follows their 2019 partnership on the Tenacious D song "Don’t Blow It, Kage."
Black’s upcoming appearance marks less than a year since he last hosted the iconic NBC show, during which he promoted A Minecraft Movie alongside musical guests Elton John and Brandi Carlile. Interestingly, it has been nearly two decades since Black’s last hosting stint prior to 2025, with his earlier appearance taking place in 2005.
This episode will also see Black gain entry into the esteemed “five-timer club,” as he has previously featured as a musical guest with Tenacious D in December 2006. Known for his roles in the Kung Fu Panda series, The Holiday, High Fidelity, and the Jumanji franchise, Black is also anticipated to star in the upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
His and White’s previous collaboration in 2018—a song jokingly titled “Jack Gray”—was produced by White at his home studio in Nashville. White, the former frontman of The White Stripes, has a long history with SNL, having made multiple appearances, including performances in 2002, 2012, 2018, 2020, and 2023, as well as participating in the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
Saturday Night Live is produced by Broadway Video, with Lorne Michaels serving as executive producer.
