Irvine Police Search for Jason Statham Lookalike in $1,700 Caviar Theft
IRVINE, Calif. – Irvine police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying a man who reportedly stole $1,700 worth of caviar from a Whole Foods store just before the new year.
The incident occurred last month at the Whole Foods on Irvine Center Drive. According to the Irvine Police Department, the suspect attempted to blend in by selecting various items, mimicking a typical shopping trip. Instead of paying for his selections, he concealed the high-end caviar in a paper bag he had brought with him and left the store without checking out.
The theft came to light when a store employee discovered that the caviar section was entirely empty. Upon reviewing security footage, management noted that the suspect had taken cans priced between $99 and $170 each, exiting the store after abandoning his shopping basket.
In a lighter take on the situation, the Irvine Police Department featured this case in their weekly "Wanted Wednesday" social media post, humorously stating, "This is not Jason Statham filming an action scene in a grocery store."
Authorities describe the suspect as a bald man with facial hair, dressed entirely in black, and they are encouraging anyone who may recognize him to reach out to Detective Drake via email.
