Two Arrested in Luxury Handbag Theft in Irvine
Two individuals were apprehended by police on Monday after attempting to steal luxury handbags from a store in Irvine. The incident unfolded when security personnel alerted law enforcement after observing the suspects on surveillance cameras entering the establishment, located near Jamboree Road and Dupont Drive.
Utilizing a drone operated by the Costa Mesa Police Department, officers located and apprehended the suspects swiftly on-site. Police estimate that approximately $100,000 worth of handbags was taken during the attempted heist.
The arrested individuals have been identified as 40-year-old Richard Bernard Spencer from Los Angeles and 30-year-old Marcellus Ronell Shelby from Hollywood. Both have been booked into Orange County Jail, facing multiple charges, including burglary, grand theft, conspiracy, vandalism, and resisting arrest.
