Hulu Brings Oscar-Nominated Film ‘The Voice Of Hind Rajab’ to Its Streaming Platform
Hulu Secures Streaming Rights for Oscar-Nominated Film “The Voice of Hind Rajab”
Hulu has acquired the U.S. streaming rights to The Voice of Hind Rajab, a film directed by Kaouther Ben Hania that has garnered an Academy Award nomination. The movie tells the true story of a young Palestinian girl who was tragically killed by Israeli forces in Gaza.
The powerful narrative includes actual voice recordings of Hind Rajab, who, at five years old, pleaded for help from Red Crescent first responders while trapped in a car struck by the Israel Defense Forces. Surrounded by the bodies of family members, her desperate cries went unheard as Palestinian ambulance drivers faced deadly obstacles before they could reach her. The Voice of Hind Rajab is set to begin streaming on Hulu this Friday.

During its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the drama received a standing ovation lasting over 23 minutes, setting a record for the festival. At a subsequent Q&A session in Los Angeles, Ben Hania noted that the applause continued until the audience was informed that the venue needed to prepare for the next screening. The film was nominated for Best International Feature, marking Ben Hania’s third Oscar nomination; her previous films include Four Daughters (Best Documentary Feature, 2024) and The Man Who Sold His Skin (Best International Feature, 2021).
The Hulu debut follows the film’s successful theatrical release in the U.S. earlier this winter and its nationwide VOD and digital release by Watermelon Pictures. The streaming rights deal was negotiated by Justin DiPietro, EVP of MPI Media Group, the parent company of Watermelon.

The film was shot in Ben Hania’s native Tunisia and features an impressive roster of Palestinian actors, including Motaz Malhees, Amer Hlehel, and Clara Khoury, alongside Jordanian Canadian actress Saja Kilani, who has Palestinian roots. Notably, Malhees was unable to attend the Academy Awards ceremony due to entry denial to the United States.
The Voice of Hind Rajab was produced by Nadim Cheikhrouha (Tanit Films), Odessa Rae (RaeFilm Studios), and James Wilson (JW Films). Executive producers include notable figures such as Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Alfonso Cuarón, and Spike Lee. The film was developed in collaboration with the Palestine Red Crescent Society and Hind Rajab’s mother, Wesam Hamada.

In a recent Q&A session at Vidiots in Los Angeles, Ben Hania emphasized her intent to honor Hind’s voice. “I found her voice lost in the scrolling of social media, and she needed to be remembered,” she stated.
Initially considering a documentary format, Ben Hania explained, “I quickly understood that a documentary alone is limited. It’s always complicated to film an event in the past.” She argued that merely recounting past events fails to capture the emotional depth of stories like Hind’s, noting that cinema offers a better means of empathy. “Cinema connects our humanity,” she said, highlighting the potential for audiences to “put themselves in the shoes of a character and live their life.”
