How Supriya Ganesh from ‘The Pitt’ Prioritizes Her Self-Care Routine with Weighted Blankets and Health Checks
Indian-American actress Supriya Ganesh captivates audiences in her role as Dr. Mohan in HBO’s acclaimed medical drama, The Pitt, which attracts over 10 million viewers per episode. Beyond the set, Ganesh prioritizes self-care, enjoys beach getaways, and shares her home with her cat, Rosie.
Ganesh emphasizes the importance of transitioning out of character after filming. “One big thing I make sure I do is get out of character every time I wrap,” she shared. “I tend to do some deep breathing exercises in my room or slide under my weighted blanket—anything to decompress. I recently realized I hold a lot of tension in my body without realizing it.”
She has also turned to physical therapy for tension relief. “It’s crazy how much lighter I feel every time I leave my PT’s office,” she said. “Sometimes it feels like all my stress is stored under my shoulder blades. Massages and physical therapy help me stay grounded.”
This year, Ganesh took a proactive approach to her health by undergoing a blood test. “I’m a big believer in data and science and want to ensure I’m not just taking things randomly,” she explained. “I realized I have a vitamin D and B12 deficiency, so I currently take those in the morning.”
Ganesh’s focus on health extends to her sleep habits. “I was not very good about sleep last season! I was still in celebratory mode—the ‘Oh my God, I just booked a really great job’ mindset,” she recalled. “This season, I’ve been prioritizing getting to bed early. Sometimes, I’m even in bed by 8, which has made a world of difference.” She noted the importance of sleep, especially when waking at 5 a.m. for early shoots, and has learned to limit her activities to prevent overextending herself.
Her dietary choices also reflect a commitment to wellness. “I try to keep track of what I eat because it affects my mood tremendously,” Ganesh mentioned. She packs healthy lunches on set, focusing on high-fiber and protein foods to avoid the sugar crashes she experienced previously from eating pastries alone.
Ganesh is also an advocate of thorough skincare routines, specifically double cleansing. “I always start with an oil-based cleanser and follow with a water-based one,” she explained. “I have these individual face towels because I’m not the best at washing my face towel daily—I know that.” She emphasized the importance of biodegradable towels for environmental responsibility and noted significant improvements in her skin consistency.
Finally, she champions consulting dermatologists for skincare advice over store-bought products. “I think there are so many products out there that don’t deliver on their promises,” she said. “Anything I use is usually derm-recommended, ensuring I achieve the best results possible.”
