How a Family Tire Repair Business in Sun Valley Found Fame Through Film
Sun Valley Tire Repair Family Celebrates Oscar Win
LOS ANGELES – A family of roadside tire repair workers from Sun Valley, California, has captivated audiences and gained notoriety on social media with their upbeat dancing videos. Known as "LLanteros 503," the family recently made headlines after one of their members was featured in a short film that won an Oscar.
The family’s journey took an unexpected turn when they received an email from the creators of "The Singer," a film centered around a singing competition in a bar. Initially suspecting it was a hoax, they soon discovered that Uncle Rigo (Tio Rigo) had been cast in the film. The excitement reached new heights when "The Singer" earned an Academy Award, propelling the family’s online presence and popularity.
The trio consists of Marlon Alexander Linares, his father George "Mr. George" Linares, and uncle Luis "Tio Rigo" Anaya. They express a mix of astonishment and humility regarding their newfound fame, emphasizing their commitment to their tire repair work despite the accolades.
The family immigrated to the U.S. in the 1980s to escape the violence of war-torn El Salvador, and they maintain deep connections to their homeland. "For immigrants like us, to show how far one can go is so important," Marlon remarked, reflecting on their journey.
As for their dancing videos, the family believes in the importance of joy, stating, "It’s about being happy, no matter what you are doing or how old you are!" Tio Rigo, despite the physically demanding nature of tire repair, has humorously embraced potential acting opportunities, saying, "I am accepting movie offers."
Their story highlights not only their resilience as immigrants but also the unexpected paths that passion and perseverance can lead to in life.
