Homeless Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Stabbing Incident in Downtown LA
Woman Stabbed in Downtown Los Angeles in Random Attack
LOS ANGELES – A woman remains in critical condition after being stabbed in the neck in a random attack by a man believed to be experiencing homelessness, according to authorities. The incident occurred at the intersection of Hope Street and Olympic Boulevard on Tuesday morning, March 31, at approximately 10:15 a.m.
Los Angeles Police Department officials reported that surveillance footage captured the moment the woman passed by the suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Kenneth Gibson. The video, they noted, shows Gibson turning and allegedly stabbing the victim from behind.
A good Samaritan promptly applied pressure to the woman’s wound until paramedics arrived. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
While the suspect initially fled the scene, he was later located and arrested. Gibson is now facing a charge of attempted murder.
