Heretic to Manage International Sales for ‘Adult Supervision’ Starring Gustaf Skarsgård, Fares Fares, and Linus Wahlgren at Cannes
Warner Bros. Appoints Heretic as International Sales Agent for Upcoming Scandi Drama ‘Adult Supervision’
Ahead of next month’s Cannes market, Warner Bros. International Television Production Sweden has selected Greek company Heretic as the international sales agent for Adult Supervision, a forthcoming Scandinavian drama. The film stars prominent Swedish actors Gustaf Skarsgård, Fares Fares, and Linus Wahlgren.
Known in Sweden as Arkipelag, this film marks the directorial debut of acclaimed author Alex Schulman, who also wrote the screenplay. The narrative centers on three fathers who accompany their teenage daughters on a chaotic school trip to a remote island. As tensions mount and buried memories surface, the trip devolves into power struggles and violence, raising questions about authority and safety.
The film is characterized by its dark humor, a style Schulman developed in collaboration with Jakob Ihre, a cinematographer renowned for his work with Joachim Trier and as the Emmy-winning director of photography for HBO’s Chernobyl.
Adult Supervision is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Sweden, with Christina Legkova serving as producer and Sofie Palage and Johan Hedman as executive producers. It is co-produced with RMV Film, Tiisch Film AB, Film Stockholm AB, and Scanbox Entertainment, with financial support from the Swedish Film Institute and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. Scanbox Entertainment will handle distribution in Sweden.
Ioanna Stais, Head of Sales at Heretic, praised Schulman’s creation: “Alex Schulman has crafted a dark comedy that feels both sharply observed and deeply disquieting — there’s a provocative edge to the humour that constantly teeters on something more dangerous.” She emphasized the film’s boldness, highlighting its intricate balance of tone.
Schulman shared his vision for the film, stating, “I wanted to make a film where the laughter catches in your throat — where you are smiling one moment and deeply uncomfortable the next.” He expressed gratitude for Heretic’s immediate understanding of his intentions.
Producer Christina Legkova remarked on Heretic’s dedication to innovative cinema, calling them the “ideal partner” for Adult Supervision. She expressed excitement about their collaboration in bringing Schulman’s remarkable directorial debut to international audiences.
