Heather Graham Shares Exciting Details About the ‘Carrie’ Series and Praises Mike Flanagan’s Vision
After 50 years, the universal themes that established Carrie as a horror classic are set for an update in a new series reboot.
Heather Graham, who stars in the upcoming series adaptation, recently shared insights about her role at MegaCon Orlando. This reboot, developed by Mike Flanagan for Amazon MGM Studios, reimagines Stephen King’s 1974 novel.
Graham noted, “If you remember the original movie, Carrie has two main antagonists. She has her mother and the girl at school who bullies her. I played the mom of the girl at school who’s bullying her,” as reported by Collider.
She explained that Flanagan has “expanded on the story” for the series and expressed hope for a potential second season.
Graham has revealed that she has already seen the first three episodes, which she described as “great,” emphasizing how the show modernizes the narrative for today’s youth.

Graham elaborated on the modernization of the story, noting the introduction of themes such as social media bullying and school violence. She believes Flanagan successfully captures the essence that made Carrie a compelling tale.
The production wrapped up last October and is characterized as a reimagining of Carrie White’s story, a misfit high school student who struggles with the challenges of attending school while navigating her domineering relationship with her mother, the trauma of her father’s sudden death, and the emergence of her mysterious telekinetic abilities.
