HBO Max and France Télévisions Series ‘Laura’s Treatments’ Attracts New Global Buyers
HBO Max’s Laura’s Treatments Secures New International Deals
HBO Max and France Télévisions’ dramatic series Laura’s Treatments has garnered interest from new international buyers, expanding its reach beyond its initial markets.
In French-speaking territories, the series is titled L’Affaire Laura Stern. It centers on Laura, a pharmacist and mother played by Valérie Bonneton, who is primarily recognized for her work in comedy. In this role, Bonneton portrays a woman dedicated to aiding victims of domestic violence, having founded the organization ‘Women Standing Tall.’ After witnessing the murder of one of her members, Laura is deeply affected by the tragedy and takes it upon herself to confront the authorities’ indifference.
The show premiered in January on HBO Max in France before transitioning to free-to-air television on France Télévisions. HBO Max also holds the streaming rights for Belgium. France TV Distribution has successfully inked further agreements for the four-part drama, with notable buyers including Swiss public broadcaster RTS and Blue TV in Switzerland, Filmin in Spain, Radio Canada, and Dutch pubcaster NPO.
Created and written by Marie Kremer and Frédéric Krivine, the series is produced by Tetra Media Fiction and Torcello Productions. In addition to Bonneton, the cast features Samir Guesmi, Pauline Parigot, Rym Foglia, and Pascal Rénéric, with Akim Isker directing.
The series has received critical acclaim, winning the best one-hour drama prize at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival last September. It has already concluded its run on HBO Max France, with the final episodes airing this week on France Télévisions.
