Hannah Einbinder Urges Change After Renee Good’s Tragic Death: We All Deserve Safety
As calls for action against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intensify across the nation, actress Hannah Einbinder is leveraging her platform to advocate for the agency’s abolition. This comes in the wake of the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, which occurred in Minneapolis.
Einbinder, a four-time Golden Globe nominee, underscored the urgency of the issue, stating, “none of us are safe” until ICE is dismantled. In a statement shared on Instagram, she drew parallels between government actions domestically and internationally, lamenting the consequences of policies impacting marginalized communities.
“The imperial boomerang has come back home. What we FUND and allow to happen to Palestinians by the hands of the IDF who TRAIN ICE will happen to our people here in America,” she wrote. She continued, “when this sadist Nazi murderer JONATHAN ROSS who killed RENEE NICOLE GOOD for consciously observing an ICE raid gets away with it? None of us are safe.”
Asserting the importance of continued activism, Einbinder urged artists and public figures to use their influence in the fight against ICE. “We cannot go on business as usual—that is a collective death sentence,” she asserted. “ICE PIGS ROT IN HELL.”
Renee Nicole Good, 37, was identified as the victim in Wednesday’s incident. A U.S. citizen and resident of the Twin Cities, Good was also a mother to a 6-year-old child, according to local reports.
Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), described the events leading up to the shooting, stating that ICE officers were conducting targeted operations when they were confronted by individuals causing disruptions. According to her, one of those individuals attempted to run down the officers with a vehicle, which McLaughlin labeled as “an act of domestic terrorism.”
“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots,” she explained.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem added that the agents were engaged in enforcement actions during adverse weather conditions in Minneapolis. She described how an unidentified woman allegedly attacked the officers while they were trying to navigate with their vehicle.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey expressed strong criticism of the actions surrounding the incident. In a press conference, he asserted that the administration was attempting to frame the shooting as a matter of self-defense, stating, “this was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying.” He further demanded that ICE cease operations in Minneapolis.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed that the incident remains under investigation. Both he and Mayor Frey called for calm amidst growing unrest, as protesters began to gather near the site where the shooting took place.
