Hamish Linklater Joins the Cast of Season 2 of Bosch Spinoff ‘Ballard’
EXCLUSIVE: The cast of Ballard continues to grow as Hamish Linklater, known for his roles in Gen V and Midnight Mass, joins for a significant recurring role in the upcoming Season 2.
This series, inspired by bestselling author Michael Connelly’s work, follows Detective Renée Ballard, portrayed by Maggie Q, as she leads the LAPD’s newly established and underfunded cold case division. The narrative centers on her efforts to solve some of Los Angeles’ most daunting, long-forgotten cases, alongside her volunteer team and retired detective Harry Bosch, played by Titus Welliver. The series explores Ballard’s navigation of personal trauma, professional hurdles, and life-threatening situations as she seeks to uncover the truth and deliver justice to overlooked victims.
In his new role, Linklater will portray Chris Alexander, a character characterized by ambition and magnetism. His blend of boyish sincerity and sharp intellect makes him particularly appealing, but beneath this charismatic facade lies a calculating mind and an intense desire for control, positioning him as a formidable force this season.
Joining Maggie Q and Welliver in the cast are Courtney Taylor, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill, and John Carroll Lynch. Previously announced cast members for Season 2 include Benjamin Bratt, Rosanna Arquette, and Ever Carradine.
The second season of Ballard is executive produced by Michael Connelly, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Henrik Bastin, Jasmine Russ, and Trish Hofmann, with Theresa Snider serving as co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures. Richard Hicks is the casting director.
Linklater recently appeared in a series regular role as Cipher in Season 2 of Prime Video’s Gen V. He also starred as President Abraham Lincoln in Apple TV’s Manhunt. Known for his contributions to Mike Flanagan’s Netflix miniseries Midnight Mass, he will soon be featured in Flanagan’s new Exorcist film, releasing today from Universal. Additionally, Linklater has completed work on Netflix’s The Whisper Man, where he stars alongside Robert De Niro and Michelle Monaghan. He is represented by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
