Gwyneth Paltrow Playfully Calls Brad Falchuk a ‘Grinch’ at Christmas, Shares Her Love for the Holidays

Gwyneth Paltrow Discusses Husband’s Christmas Dislike
During a recent episode of the goop podcast, Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that her husband, Brad Falchuk, is not particularly fond of the Christmas season. Paltrow, 53, described Falchuk as “a little bit of a Grinch,” saying, “He looks forward to it being over.” The couple began dating in 2014 and married in 2018.
Reflecting on her love for the holiday, Paltrow shared, “I love Christmas; my husband is a little bit of a Grinch, so he’s the opposite. But I love the decorations.” She expressed enthusiasm for Christmas music, particularly the Frank Sinatra Christmas album, and her annual traditions, which include crafting a traditional holiday menu.
Paltrow noted that she typically prepares Martha Stewart’s perfect roast turkey, traditional stuffing, and sweet potatoes each Christmas. While she once experimented by adding fried chicken to the holiday spread, she expressed a preference for returning to classic dishes this year.
When asked if Falchuk contributed any new holiday traditions to their relationship, she humorously lamented, “Are you kidding? Brad is the worst. He hates Christmas music. He hates Christmas decorations. He hates roast turkey. He hates the traditional dinner. He looks forward to it being over.” However, she acknowledged that their children appreciate the festivities, stating, “the kids love it, so they’re on my side.”

Paltrow and Falchuk first met in 2010 when she guest-starred on the musical series Glee, which he co-created. The couple has a blended family, with Paltrow’s daughter, Apple, 21, and son, Moses, 19, from her previous marriage to Chris Martin.
The actress also shared her family’s unique holiday celebrations, noting their Jewish background that includes festivities for both Hanukkah and Christmas. Falchuk, whose mother described him as growing up around “very activist people involved in the organized Jewish community,” shares this heritage.
Despite her husband’s reluctance during the holiday season, Paltrow maintains her festive spirit, stating, “I usually do it like the first week in December.” She reminisced, "My grandmother used to keep the Christmas tree up until Easter, so talk about a dead tree.”
