Gwen Stefani Shares How Blake Shelton Kicked Off Their Holiday Timpano Pasta Dome Tradition
Gwen Stefani Shares Holiday Tradition and New Music on The Tonight Show
Gwen Stefani appeared on the December 3 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she revealed details about her beloved holiday tradition with husband Blake Shelton and discussed her latest musical project.
During the interview, Stefani, 56, explained the couple’s unique annual Christmas custom of creating a timpano pasta dome. "We have a tradition that Blake started, actually. It’s a dish that’s basically a pizza, a pasta and a carb-licious, like, thing," she said, referring to the dish that combines elements of pizza and pasta.
The idea stemmed from the 1996 film Big Night, as confirmed by Fallon. "It’s a big pie. Like, a pizza pie thing. We found it in a movie… some movie that Blake found," Stefani explained. Over the years, the couple has adapted the recipe, initially using pasta shells before deciding to innovate with pizza dough on the outside. "We were like, ‘We should make it with pizza on the outside,’ like, pizza dough. Like, why wouldn’t you do that?" she remarked.
Stefani admitted that she was surprised by the enduring nature of their tradition. "I thought I would, like, text the group family chat and be like, ‘Are you guys sick of this? Should we still do this?’ But everyone’s like, ‘No, we want it!’ So, it’s a tradition now." As a playful nod to the holiday spirit, Fallon surprised her with a timpano pasta dome during the interview.

In addition to discussing their culinary traditions, Stefani provided an update on Shelton, whom she described fondly, saying, "He is gorgeous."
The Grammy-winning artist also took the opportunity to talk about her new song "Shake the Snow Globe," featured in the holiday movie Oh. What. Fun, which premiered on December 3. Stefani shared her excitement about being asked to write a song specifically for the film. "They asked me to actually write this song for the film, and I had never been asked to, like, write for that scene, watch the movie," she recalled. "I was very flattered. I was like, ‘Maybe I could score a movie.’"

Throughout the project, Stefani’s father expressed interest in her interactions with co-star Michelle Pfeiffer, stating, "I swear, my dad was stalking me." He inquired whether she would be present during her studio sessions with the actress. Their paths finally crossed at the film’s New York City premiere on December 2. "I got to actually meet her last night, you guys. She’s so beautiful and everything cool, all of it," Stefani shared.
As the holiday season unfolds, both Stefani and Shelton continue to inspire with their festive traditions and creative projects.
