Guns N’ Roses Revives “Bad Apples” After 35 Years at São Paulo Concert
Guns N’ Roses delighted fans during their recent performance at the Monsters of Rock Brazil, held at São Paulo’s Allianz Parque on April 5, 2023. The iconic rock band played “Bad Apples,” a track from their Use Your Illusion I album, for the first time in 35 years.
This performance marked only the second time the song has been played live, following its original debut at Brazil’s Rock in Rio in 1991, as reported by Rolling Stone. The band’s lead guitarist, Slash, has previously revisited the track with his side project, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.
The Saturday concert also featured other seldom-heard songs, including “Dead Horse” from Use Your Illusion I and “Rocket Queen” from the band’s classic album, Appetite for Destruction.
In an interview earlier this year with Las Vegas radio station KOMP 92.3, Slash hinted that Guns N’ Roses would perform a mix of new and classic songs during their 2026 world tour, which commenced on March 28 at the Tecate Pa’l Norte festival in Monterrey, Mexico. This opening show included the live debuts of “Atlas” and “Nothin’,” the band’s first new material since the release of one-off singles in 2023.
During the interview, Slash also alluded to potential new recordings, discussing a collection of older tracks the band has been gradually releasing, in addition to the anticipated follow-up to the 2008 album Chinese Democracy.
On the subject of recent releases, Slash remarked, “I think in this instance it’s what we’re doing, because we only re-recorded those songs — like a couple of songs here, a couple of songs there.” He expressed that “Nothin’” and “Atlas” were the last tracks that needed recording.
He emphasized that, following these releases, the band plans to compile the songs into a package before moving on to create entirely new material for their next album. “But I think what we’re gonna do, we’re gonna take all those songs and put them on something and release that as a package. And then the next record that we’re gonna do is gonna be all new original stuff, and that’ll be an actual album,” he added.
Guns N’ Roses are scheduled to perform again on April 7 in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, continuing their tour with several more dates in Brazil before heading to Florida later this month.
