Gigi Hadid Ditches Her Blonde Locks for a Stunning New Dark Shade Loved by Gen Z
Gigi Hadid Unveils Dramatic Hair Transformation
In a striking departure from her signature look, model Gigi Hadid has embraced a bold new hairstyle featuring her darkest color yet. Debuting a "matte black" hue perfected by noted hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, Hadid’s transformation showcases her versatility in style.
On Thursday, Giannetos shared a series of photos on social media, presenting Hadid in a chic bob hairstyle that falls just below her chin. The "matte black" shade, styled in a piecey, side-parted wet look, was complemented by a bronzy makeup palette and a peach lip, enriching the overall monochromatic appearance. Hadid’s piercing blue eyes were further accentuated by her choice of attire—a semi-sheer, charcoal blouse.
Giannetos explained that this dramatic shift in color was inspired by Hadid’s upcoming Maybelline campaign, stating, "We wanted to do something different, something Gigi has never done." He anticipates that matte black will become the trend color of 2026, referring to it as “the cool, modern Gen Z black.”
To create this striking look, Giannetos was careful to avoid any red undertones, resulting in a sophisticated inky hue. He described the hairstyle as a "mini bob," emphasizing its sleek and modern appeal, and noted its versatility for styling.
Hadid’s recent hair transformation marks the darkest color she has sported to date, typically favoring lighter shades of ashy blonde or occasional highlights. In 2021, she notably experimented with a cherry cola red for the Met Gala, adding more variety to her hair history.
This latest transformation not only highlights Hadid’s adaptability but also sets a new beauty trend poised to influence upcoming styles for the year ahead.
