Sally Field is a devoted mother to her three sons: Peter, Eli, and Sam. Over the years, the acclaimed actress has spoken affectionately about her children, emphasizing their unique qualities. In a memorable speech at the 2012 Human Rights Campaign annual dinner, she stated, "The three things I am most proud of in my life are Peter, Eli, and Sam. My sons." She described them as "kind and loving, productive human beings," highlighting their individuality, as each son has carved out his own path.

Field shares her elder sons, Peter and Eli, with her first husband, Steven Craig, and her youngest, Sam, with her second husband, Alan Greisman.

Reflecting on her early motherhood, Field, who became a parent in her early 20s, expressed some regrets but also recognition of how her sons motivated her. In a recent interview, she explained, "I had two little kids to take care of. I didn’t have the luxury to throw my hands up and say, ‘Forget this whole acting thing — I’m gonna go and open up a boutique in Pasadena.’ My kids were fuel."

Field revealed that her children often lifted her spirits during challenging times. "More times than not, they literally picked me up when I just felt crushed," she noted.

Peter Craig, 56

Peter Craig, the eldest, was born on November 10, 1969. He grew up surrounded by a unique blend of Hollywood glamour and a commune lifestyle. "In a way, my whole life has been full of extremes," he reflected in a past interview, where he acknowledged how his upbringing influenced his creative career.

An accomplished author and screenwriter, Peter attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and wrote two novels, Hot Plastic and The Martini Shot. He also achieved success as a screenwriter, co-writing the 2022 blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Field has expressed admiration for her son’s parenting skills, saying, "When I watch him with [his daughters], I think, ‘Boy, I would have liked to have had comfort like that.’"

Eli Craig, 53

Eli Craig was born on May 25, 1972. Following in his brother’s footsteps, he pursued a career as a writer and director, gaining recognition for works like Little Evil and Tucker & Dale vs. Evil.

Eli is married to Sasha, who played the Yellow Ranger in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, and together they have two sons. Field has reflected on her parenting challenges, noting that Eli felt she was "not strict enough,” a sentiment she humorously acknowledged.

Sam Greisman, 38

Sam Greisman, the youngest, was born on December 2, 1987. He has established a close bond with his mother, often reflecting on their relationship. In a personal essay, he described himself as a "momma’s boy," citing their deep connection and his mother’s unwavering support, especially when he came out as gay.

In 2019, Sam and Field collaborated to advocate for the Equality Act, showcasing their strong partnership. He recalled, "When I came out, she didn’t even bat an eye. In fact, she was overjoyed."

Their relationship remains a significant aspect of both their lives, emphasizing the importance of family and support in their personal journeys.
