Liv Tyler is a devoted mother to three children: sons Milo and Sailor and daughter Lula. She welcomed her first child, Milo, in 2004, with her then-husband, Roy Langdon. The couple separated four years later. In 2014, Tyler entered a relationship with sports agent David Gardner, with whom she shares two children—Sailor, born in 2015, and Lula, born in 2016. Although they became engaged in 2015, Tyler and Gardner ended their relationship in 2021.
Beyond having a famous mother, Tyler’s youngest two children enjoy a well-known godfather in soccer legend David Beckham, a friend of Gardner’s.
Motherhood has significantly shaped Tyler’s life and self-identity. In a 2015 interview with More magazine, she expressed, “My favorite thing about being a parent is that I learn so much from the push-and-pull dynamic of mother and child," adding, “Having children, I learned about my own strength.” Furthermore, she described motherhood as “the best thing I’ve ever done in my life” during a 2007 conversation with Elle Mexico.
In March 2023, Tyler shared a heartwarming photo of her family enjoying an outdoor adventure, showcasing the bond she shares with her children.

Milo was born on December 14, 2004, in New York City. Tyler revealed that the choice of his name came down to how he looked at birth: “We thought a lot [about] the name, but when he was born, we decided he looked like a Milo.”
Discussing motherhood, Tyler remarked that watching Milo grow and learn is “quite simply the most beautiful and incredible miracle that I’ve ever known.” When Milo was four, he showed interest in “castles, dragons [and] knights,” which prompted Tyler to introduce him to her role as Arwen in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. “So mommy was a real princess,” he sweetly noted.
After taking a break from acting for Milo’s first two years, Tyler returned to the industry, saying, “I didn’t find it that complicated because I love acting, I love my job and I have had the advantage that I could take Milo with me.”
Balancing her career and motherhood posed challenges. At one point, she expressed concern about leaving for film shoots. But Milo encouraged her to pursue her passions, saying, “Mommy, I want you to go forth and make some movies.”
Tyler frequently shares photos of Milo on social media. One highlight came in July 2022 when she posted a picture of them in matching hats, aptly calling him “my giant love” due to his towering height. Celebrating Milo’s 16th birthday in December 2020, she expressed pride in how much he has grown.
In June 2023, Milo graduated from The Thacher School in Ojai, California. Tyler proudly posted, “What a journey!! so SO soooo proud of you Milo 💗.”

Sailor was born on February 11, 2015, six weeks early. Tyler shared that his early arrival prevented Gardner from being present for the birth; instead, her father, Steven Tyler, and sister Mia were there to support her through labor. She recalled on Jimmy Kimmel Live! how it felt to have her family present: “Never in a million years would I have thought I’d give birth with my dad and my sister, but it was actually really sweet because … we were laughing a lot.”
Today, Sailor dotes on his little sister Lula, often posing affectionately with her in family photos. However, his eagerness as a young sibling initially required vigilant supervision, as Tyler once noted, “We’re just trying to keep [Lula] alive!”
For his 8th birthday in 2023, Tyler shared joyful moments from the day, featuring Sailor enjoying macaron-topped cupcakes alongside their dog.

Much like her brother Sailor, Lula’s name is inspired by a character from Wild at Heart. Tyler has remarked on her daughter’s joyful spirit, saying, “I’m completely blissed out” and admitting that juggling her children is a rewarding challenge. Tyler also shared a poignant moment breastfeeding Lula soon after her birth, emphasizing that there should be no stigma around the experience.
Celebrating Lula’s 4th birthday in 2020, Tyler sweetly wrote, “This smile says it all. You light up the whole world,” showcasing her daughter’s joyful personality.
In her reflections, Tyler expresses profound gratitude for her family life, which she describes as filled with love, joy, and magic.
