Jennifer Lawrence and her husband, Cooke Maroney, have welcomed their second child, adding to their family of four. The couple met through a mutual friend in 2018 and were married in October 2019 at the Belcourt of Newport mansion in Rhode Island. Their first child, son Cy, was born in February 2022, followed by another son in early 2025.
Lawrence, known for her role in Die My Love, has been protective of her family’s privacy, particularly regarding her children. In a November 2021 interview with Vanity Fair, she expressed her desire to shield her kids from the public eye. "If I was at a dinner party, and somebody was like, ‘Oh, my God, you’re expecting a baby,’ I wouldn’t be like, ‘God, I can’t talk about that. Get away from me, you psycho!’ ” she remarked. “But every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can."
At the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025, Lawrence discussed how motherhood has reshaped her career. "Having children changes everything. It changes your whole life. It’s brutal and incredible," she stated. "Not only do they go into every decision of if I’m working, where I’m working, when I’m working — they’ve taught me … and they’ve opened up the world to me."
Meeting Cy Maroney
Cy Maroney, now four years old, was born in February 2022. Two months post-birth, the couple was seen enjoying a stroll with their newborn but had yet to disclose his name. In an interview with Vogue in September 2022, Lawrence shared that she named him after Cy Twombly, a favorite artist of Maroney’s. She expressed the profound joy Cy brings her, saying, "I mean the euphoria of Cy is just — Jesus, it’s impossible. I always tell him, ‘I love you so much it’s impossible.’"
Motherhood has also shifted Lawrence’s outlook on her professional life. Speaking with Good Morning America in June 2023, she revealed that balancing work and parenting has required her to reassess her priorities. "I used to think that [I would direct]. Now I’m just tired and it just looks so hard," she said. "Once you start a family, that’s the greatest thing in the world. I’m just gonna try to take in every second and be present and enjoy it."
Baby No. 2
Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney welcomed their second child, another baby boy, in early 2025. Although specific details about their second son remain private, sources indicate that Lawrence was enthusiastic about the new addition. The announcement of the pregnancy came via a Vogue Instagram post in October 2024, celebrating the joyous news of their growing family.
A representative confirmed her joy, stating that she "loves being a mom." Following the birth, a source shared that Lawrence is adapting well to life with a toddler and a newborn, characterizing her as calm and capable. "Jen’s got such a great attitude. She’s meant to be a mom," the source remarked, indicating that both parents are handling the transition well.
In an interview ahead of the premiere of Die My Love, Lawrence revealed her struggles with postpartum anxiety after her second child’s birth. She recalled the intense anxiety that accompanied her newborn’s sleep, confiding, "I just thought every time he was sleeping he was dead." Reflecting on her experiences, she emphasized the challenges of motherhood and her commitment to confronting them head-on.
